Our purpose and aims
The Centre is a registered charity whose aim is to provide facilities for recreational and learning activities for adults and children of the community. It has a variety of accommodation of various sizes and includes two halls, smaller rooms, a purpose-built art room and a coffee bar. The Centre hires out accommodation not only to teachers and function organisers but also to organisations requiring once-off or long-term office space or meeting rooms. All the accommodation has been refurbished to a high standard. The ground floor is accessible by a ramp and is fully wheelchair accessible.
The Centre does not run any classes itself. The teachers and organisers set their own course rates or admission charges.

Location and how to get here
The Centre is situated in a picturesque location at the seaward end of Hoyle Road, at its junction with North Parade. For a map of the area and for site access , see Site Plans. The Centre has a car park for 50 cars. See also Public Transport Info.
Pictures of the site, building and views are at Building Pictures. To find your class/meeting room, see Building Layout.
Facilities
Depending on availability, we are always glad to provide accommodation for all your meeting requirements during the daytime or evening, whether they be one-off or for a regular activity or learning class. We can provide accommodation ranging from small seminar rooms to a hall seating 120, see Lettings/Accommodation.
To book a room, simply contact us at the Parade or call in to discuss your requirements. If you don’t see a room which matches your needs, we may be able to divide or join our rooms. All room bookings include the use of our coffee bar with seating area (small charge for drinks). The bar includes a small kitchen which can be used by outside caterers (a list can be supplied on request) to serve meals with an event. We can arrange for drinks, sandwiches and buffets to be delivered to your meeting for an additional charge.
Free wi-fi access is available throughout the building.
The Centre has a purpose-built Soft Play Area for people with special needs. This is maintained by the Wednesday Special Needs Club (WSNC).
Get involved!
Wirral Borough Council is withdrawing its financial subsidies to the Centre so the Centre must become financially independent and self-financing. The only way that it will survive is by it maintaining an adequate level of income. We need to increase the occupancy rates of the rooms and the number of rooms being used, particularly in the day time.
So come to learn a new language or craft or get some exercise or loosen up with our health activities. Maybe you could start a new class to teach others about one of your interests or craft skills. Maybe you need a room for a one-off seminar or a selling event. To get an idea of events which we have hosted in the past, see Past Events.
To find out more or if you need to discuss room hire, please contact the office on the above phone number on Monday to Friday within normal office hours.

If you don’t use the Centre, you’ll lose it!
We would be grateful for more volunteers to man the Reception or help with administration. We would also be glad of people with professional qualifications who could enhance the skill base of our management committee. Please see the Help Wanted! page for our current needs. If you would like to volunteer or have any suggestions, please contact the office on the above phone number on Monday to Friday within normal office hours.
How the Centre was created
The Centre building was not purpose built- a fine Edwardian school building was saved from demolition by the creation of the Centre. Since then, it has been continually refurbished and its facilities improved. For the story of how the redundant Parade School became the Community Centre, see History of the Centre. In June 2009 we celebrated the centenary of the Parade school. To see where we are heading, see The Future
