The Future
Asset Transfer moves forward!
The Cabinet of
Wirral Borough Council has recently agreed to accept the business plan put
forward by the Joint Management Committee of the Hoylake Community Centre. This
transfers the management of the site and its assets under a 99 year lease to a
new charitable company to be known as Hoylake Parade Ltd. This company will be
set up to run the Centre for the benefit of the local community as before.
The transfer
provides for funding to allow the full refurbishment of the roofs, replacement
of all windows, new drains and car park. These works will be completed in
2011/2012 and our aim is to have a building which will serve local people for
the next century as it has for the previous one.
It is expected
that the intent to lease will be signed within the next two months. This is the
culmination of over 20 years work by a group of dedicated volunteers who were
not prepared to see this great building demolished and the site sold for
housing. Over £1.3m has been spent to date on creating this wonderful facility
for the local community.
As part of this
process, the Centre has appointed Centre Development Manager Gill
Norris to supervise office staff and promote the Centre.
